Over the weekend we had the chance to sit in on a panel featuring Once Upon a Time and the brand new spin-off, In Wonderland. For a show that I have only watch a limited amount of episodes of, it’s a show that I am interested in catching up on. Why not? Who doesn’t like that “Disney” stuff and fairy tales?! Seriously though, now that the show has been popular enough to get a sister series, especially since its based in Wonderland, I may have found something to waste my days off watching a marathon. The NYCC panel was relatively small, and I kind of feel that a show that has THAT MANY characters and a large fan base, no one else was there besides Jennifer Morrison, who plays Emma. Though it was nice to have one of the show’s main stars, it was still a little underwhelming compared to say the Defiance panel. The shows creator/writer duo, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz were both in attendance as well. We got to see some great footage featuring LOST‘s Naveen AndrewsSayid” as Jafar, remember that guy from Aladdin?! Apparently Once Upon a Time In Wonderland will be a mix of Alice in Wonderland and Aladdin, I think that is kind of interesting, with it being two new worlds that have opened up in the OUAT universe. Kitsis and Horowitz shared some of the following insights on season 2!

Once Upon a time NYCC 02

  • Alice will have more of a back story and will find out what brings her to the asylum
  • We’ll find out how Alice meets the Knave of Hearts
  • Robin Hood will be featured in both shows
  • The Knave of Hearts and Robin Hood meet in episode 3
  • They used a white cardboard cutout for the White Rabbit on set
  • White Rabbit will get a back story at some point and we will find out why the Rabbit is working for Red Queen
  • Peter Pan is one of the nastiest villains this season

Once Upon a time NYCC 04

Jennifer had the following to say about what is happening this season on her show:

  • Rumpelstiltskin goes on his own and shows up throughout the series
  • No cure for dream shade and he has to save his grandson

The footage that we got to see was interesting as we got to see a little bit of Jafar’s power and I have to say that the effects are pretty good and one of these days I’m going to make a commitment to the series, maybe after this season of TV is over! Towelites, what do you have to say about Once Upon a Time and/or Once Upon a Time In Wonderland? Sound off in the comments!

Once Upon a Time airs Sundays at 8pmEST and Once Upon a Time in Wonderland airs Thursdays at the same time, both on ABC!

Stay tooned 😛
