I have been a fan of Blizzard Entertainment since the first time I played the original Warcraft game on my PC. As a long fan of the Command & Conquer series, this was similar in it’s strategy; yet it lived in a fantasy world. Something I was more excited about than simply humans vs humans. They’ve built an empire since that time with World of Warcraft and the Starcraft games. Yet, Blizzard is constantly changing and evolving with a company, and out of this innovation comes the birth of Overwatch.

Overwatch is the creative spark that the company’s been looking forward to doing for some time. With the weight of World of Warcraft basically consuming them for so many years, it’s taken this long to come up with something new and creative to give back to a new world of gamers.

It’s a team-based multiplayer shooter set on Earth very late in the future. There’s 12 confirmed characters that range from Human, to Gorilla, to Robot and more! At Blizzcon, Jeff Kaplan and Chris Metzen, spoke about bringing a diversity to it’s characters for the changing gaming world.

“I think we’re clearly in an age where gaming is for everybody,” he continued. “We build games for everybody. We want everyone to come and play. Increasingly, people want to feel represented, from all walks of life, boys and girls, everybody. We feel indebted to do our best to honor that. There’s a lot of room for growth, but specifically with Overwatch, over the past year we’ve been very cognizant of … trying not to over-sexualize the female characters. I don’t know that we’ve over-sexualized the male characters. But it’s something that we’re very sensitive to.”

Below, we have a cinematic trailer, a preview of actual gameplay, and a ton of pictures. Enjoy!
