As many of you know, Pacific Rim was my favorite movie of last year. It had robots punching monsters in the face and it was directed by Guillermo Del Toro. It was pure geeky bliss. Though, the film did not make a ton of movie here in the States, it killed overseas enough to warrant a sequel. Today, we get a teaser poster for the upcoming film and word from Del Toro that he’s just setting the stage for a third film.
In a recent interview over at Collider, he mentions the following:
“some of your favorite characters come back, some others don’t because we have decided that we’re going to shoot ambitiously and say ‘Let’s hope we have three movies,’ so some characters come in at the end of the second, hoping that it will ramp up on the third one.”
The teaser poster shows off a whirling vortex and a ton of warships being sucked towards it. That can only mean one thing, the Rift is about to be opened up again!
