Ok let’s have a quick chat about the status of the fan-dubbed DCEU or as it is officially called now, Worlds of DC aka the DC movie-verse. As of today word has it that Ray Fisher is departing from his role as Cyborg and that the stand-alone film is cancelled. For the last few years Cyborg has been on the DC movie slate but no peep of any production beginning on it, I even believe it was set for 2020 to be honest. Remember when they were shopping around the idea of a Cyborg and The Flash buddy movie? Yeah, that’s never going to happen now that Ezra Miller is scrambling to rewrite The Flash with Grant Morrison. Also with Cyborg being played by Joivan Wade on Doom Patrol and taking the character in a totally different direction, I don’t see the rumored Ray Fisher departure as a loss. Also in news this past week, James Gunn‘s The Suicide Squad is headed in the total reboot direction, can you blame him? There it is fans, DC said they were going to phase out most of the connectivity and just make good films, thank you.
For those of us lucky enough to get to see Shazam! this coming Saturday, we will see if DC can continue with what Aquaman started and just give us a good popcorn munching movie that puts a smile on my face. It’s been tough being a DC fan outside of their comics and TV shows, I for one am very happy for their success as of late and I hope that they can continue with upcoming films like The Joker, Birds of Prey and The Batman. Speaking of The Batman, there have been some rumblings and I am sure that we will be getting some official announcements in the near future including who will play the titular character. For now gaze upon what MAY BE the logo for the Matt Reeve’s helmed film, one that is awfully similar to the one used in the Telltale game.
He’s the (rumored) temporary Batman logo! If it’s used in the suit, the font and coloring will change, but the outline will remain the same or close to it. pic.twitter.com/tVKcKTVecU
