As you already know, I’m not a huge fan of the upcoming remake of Robocop. I rarely think that movies need a remake, unless they are obscure or foreign or could use a fresh take. I was extremely leary when they re-did Fright Night, but it turned out well. Now though, we’re seeing another Paul Verhoeven property get a remake, and anyone who saw Total Recall knows that turned out pretty lame.
Seeing the pictures below doesn’t give me any extra faith in the remake. The suit looks like a cross between Christopher Nolan’s Batman and Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe. Check them out below and judge for yourself. The first picture is a concept art, which pretty much is spot on to the actual design seen underneath the concept photo.
The movie is directed by Jose Padilha and stars Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton and Samuel L. Jackson, and Joel Kinnaman as Robocop. The ROBOCOP remake is currently scheduled to hit theaters on August 9, 2013.
