Sheldon TurnerVideo games turned into movies are very rarely a good idea. Street Fighter, Double Dragon, Mario Brothers, are just a few of the offenders of some of the worst pieces of cinematic history. Game developer, Ubisoft, is trying to change that with their two franchises Assassin’s Creed and Splinter Cell.

The latter recently signed on Sheldon Turner (Up in the Air, X-Men: First Class) to adapt a screenplay based off the popular video game series. Splinter Cell stars Sam Fisher as a black ops agent who uses stealth and gadgets to take out bad guys. The film already has signed Tom Hardy to star in the film, along with Doug Liman (Bourne Identity) to direct.

As more Splinter Cell news comes down, we’ll be sure to keep you posted here at DFAT!
