Looking at the trailer below for the new web-series ‘Star Trek: Renegades‘, all I can think of is playing ‘Command & Conquer’ and watching the cut-scenes. You know, where Yuri, played by Udo Kier, and Tim Curry banter back and forth. Then, Ray Wise just shows up as the president because, well it’s Ray Wise and he just shows up in anything. But I digress, the trailer looks like the most boring thing to ever happen to the Star Trek franchise, and that’s saying a lot, because I’ve played a couple Star Trek video games and they are HORRIBLE.
The series is supposed to take Star Trek “where no Trek has gone before.” It touts being ” action-oriented, filled with suspense and espionage; all while exploring new worlds, encountering both familiar and new alien species.” All things that didn’t come across in the trailer at all. Instead you get one really old Chekov talking to one slightly less old Vulcan. I could be wrong of course, I’m not the hugest Trek fan. I love a lot of the movies and am a fan of TNG and Deep Space Nine, getting into Voyager and Enterprise just lost me. So, you check it out and judge for yourself.
Directed by Tim Russ, Star Trek: Renegades will include: Walter Koenig, Gary Graham (Soval), Garrett Wang (Harry Kim), Manu Intiraymi (Icheb) and Richard Herd (Admiral Paris).
