This week another major character has joined the cast of Star Wars Episode VII. Peter Mayhew will reprise his role as Han Solo’s Wookie co-pilot, Chewbacca. Filming has begun on this very secretive project and this is the biggest news to hit yet!
But for those of you who have studied the Expanded Universe, you know that Chewie met his demise during the first book, Vector Prime, in the epic storyline, The New Jedi Order.
Now, word has it that Episode VII takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi, which places it directly after the events of The New Jedi Order Era and right before the Legacy Era. So will he be featured in flashbacks and the EU timeline will be respected, or is this the first sign that Disney is looking to do their own thing? It won’t be too long until news will start flooding the internets, so stay tooned!
