You know what I love about Star Wars? The Original Trilogy. Sometimes I forget that the prequels ever happen. I haven’t had the good fortune of watching The Clone Wars cartoon, so I really only have those movies and they are forgettable at best. So, when you mention the words “Star Wars” to me, my mind will immediately go to Luke, Leia, Han, and The Force.

Luckily, the people at Disney are finally getting on that same wavelength and releasing four new children’s books that are devoted to the Holy Trinity. Maybe, just maybe, these will help kids focus on a time when George Lucas wasn’t completely insane and made movies that weren’t all CGI and full of midichlorians.

In October of 2014 we will get to see these books that are authored by some of the bestselling writers around: Tom Angleberger, Tony DiTerlizzi, Adam Gidwitz, and R.J. Palacio, with art by famed Star Wars concept artist Iain McCaig. Disney said Angelberger, who previously wrote the “Origami Yoda” series, will write a retelling of “Return of the Jedi,” while “Wonder” author Palacio will offer a new version of the original “Star Wars,” and “A Tale Dark and Grimm” author Gidwitz will write the kids version of “The Empire Strikes Back.”

The books will be published by Disney-Lucasfilm Press.
