Star Wars has used Tunisia for five of the six films, when there have been scenes shot on the desert planet of Tatooine. We have news that the conditions have been too harsh at the African landscape, and now Abi Dhabi will take it’s place in the upcoming Episode VII.
From what little we know of the film, director J. J. Abrams has wanted to be as faithful to the original trilogy as possible, and going back to the Home planet of Luke Skywalker on Tatooine makes sense. There’s also rumors that we’ll meet a descendant of Obi-Wan Kenobi, who spent many years on the planet, watching over Luke.
