The Turtles, Casey, and April are still at her family’s farmhouse.  Trying to mix training and some house cleaning, they use their ninja skills to mop, vacuum, and dust the house.  They stumble upon a trap door leading to the basement.  They find a Krang stealth ship in the basement.  April is shocked to find an enemy spacecraft in the home, because her father has never mentioned this to her.  The ship looks like it has been there for years.  All of them enter the ship and finds a cryo-stasis pod with a woman inside  Mikey accidentally activates the ship’s power and the pod opens up.  To April’s surprise, her mom steps out.  This is the first time we get to see April’s mom and find out what happened to her.  April is elated with this discovery and reunion, but Mikey is suspicious of April’s mom.  His suspicion doesn’t sit well April and the others.  However, he is determined to prove that Mother O’Neil is not who she says she is.

Mrs. O’Neil tells the others about the history of April’s lineage and how the Krang experimented on her family for decades to perfect the mutagen.  She tells April that when she was born, the Krang knew that April was the key to unlock the mutagen. She and April’s father had to escape, but she got separated, and placed in the cryo stasis pod in the stealth ship.

TMNT S3E3 01April and her mom is talking outside when Mikey ambushes them and comes after Mother O’Neil, but April steps in his way.  The other Turtles come to April’s aid, and take Mikey away.  She finds her mom, and apologizes for Mikey’s behavior. Without skipping a beat Mrs. O’Neil tries to convince her that the Turtles are dangerous and they need to get away from these freaks.  Calling them freaks raises red flags in my head, but April is just too blind to see that her mom is acting strange.

Mikey is still watching Mrs. O’Neil, trying to see get any proof that she is not April’s mom.  He gets it when she walks into the woods and reveals a hideous Krang face.  He runs after her only to find her pouring mutagen onto the ground.  They are about to fight when she says to him,” you’ve made mother very angry”, before she changes into a mutagenic creature.  Although we don’t see the entire fight, we can hear his cries in the distance.

Donnie is tinkering with the Krang ship and realizes something about Mrs. O’Neil before he is attacked by the creature.  Leo goes to find out what happen to Donnie and is also attacked by the creature.  Raph is about to fall the same fate as his brothers, but gets away.  He sees April and Casey outside and tries to warn them about Mrs. O’Neil, but is interrupted by the creature. They run in the barn and it follows them.  This time the creature’s true form is revealed.  The spider-like mutant uses its’ legs and mutagenic goop to attack them.  Casey and Raph are captured, and then April is grabbed. She lets out a scream and releases a power that destroys the creature.  The Turtles and Casey are then released from the mutant.

Donnie tells the others that the mutant creature is an early infiltration Krang unit, and uses the DNA and memories of April’s mom to create a clone of her.  April is both relieved and saddened.  She realizes that her mom is still out there, and she will find her.  Donnie then discovers that the mutagen that was poured into the woods will make trouble for the Turtles very soon.

A lot has been revealed in this episode.  The connection to the Krang and the O’Neil family is explained in more detail.  We get to see April’s mom, even though she turns to be a clone Krang mutant.  Mikey’s intuition once again has proven to be effective, but his brothers still don’t take him seriously.  With what happened in the woods with the spilled mutagen, I don’t think we will be leaving the countryside any time soon.
