Chris Cooper recently sat down with MTV to talk about his role as Harry Osbourn in the upcoming, Amazing Spider-Man 2. We already know the film is going to be pretty villain-centric, with Jamie Foxx as Electro and Paul Giamatti as Rhino; but where does The Green Goblin fit into the mix? It’s been hinted at that director Marc Webb wants to move towards The Sinister Six, below is that Cooper had to say about it.

“…you’ll see — an extremely odd introduction, which apparently will lead to something more,” Cooper said.

He did mention that we could be hearing some rumblings on The Sinister Six.

“They sent me some material,” he said, adding, “But they said also that this Spider-Man is its own Spider-Man. We’re just kind of starting from the beginning.”

Giamatti had a lot more to speculate on than Cooper.

“And I believe there’s a lot of stage-setting for the next film. There are several villains in this movie, and some of them are more foreground and important. Jamie Foxx is and stuff. A couple of us are more hanging around the background because I think there will be a bigger deal,” he said. “I don’t actually know, but that seems to be what they’re doing. I’m not an idiot either, but I can’t claim hard and fast knowledge of this. I won’t. I can’t because I don’t actually know, but you and I can speculate.”

On December 5th, we’ll finally see a trailer for the film, and hopefully a bit more light will be shed on the subject. Until then, we’ll just have to guess as to where the franchise is going; but I do know that Spider-Man has a lot more villains than heroes in it’s roster, so we can safely assume they’ll big a bigger part of the upcoming films.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally Field. The Marc Webb directed sequel swings into theaters on May 2, 2014.
