I don’t think I’ve ever seen a movie more marketed than The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Every other day there’s new footage, or an interview, or viral campaign to get you excited for Marc Webb‘s upcoming sequel. This is all a GOOD THING!
Sony‘s latest push seems to be for the Death of Gwen Stacy. Actress, Emma Stone, recently talked about her character, and did all but blatantly say she was curtains:
”Basically they’re going to see the continuation of the Spider Man story, which is the hero’s journey, and he’s up against a whole new squadron of villains and he’s struggling with promises he’s made in the last movie and the consequences of making those and what it’s like to be in love with somebody who you promised to not see anymore. I think the intention the whole time has been to tell Gwen’s story has closely to the comic as possible.“
If you need further evidence that this is the end, check out the first part of the trailer that will air during The Superbowl. She’s wearing the iconic outfit, we get more footage of Green Goblin, and Spidey is making a heroic save. Will it be enough?
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 stars: Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Dane DeHaan, Jamie Foxx, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Chris Cooper, and Sally Field. The Marc Webb directed sequel swings into theaters on May 2, 2014.
