It’s almost that time of year kiddos. The time of year when something amazing and Batman-y comes out.  Last year, it was Batman: Arkham City. This year, it will be the release of Frank Miller’s classic,  coming to bluray and DVD from Warner Home Video.  We gave you a write-up about it a couple of weeks ago here.  It seems that the movie will premiere on September 20th in New York and September 24th in Los Angeles. The premieres are being presented by Warner Home Video and The Paley Center for Media. Both the filmmakers and the voice actors will be in attendance!

Here are the details, via the official press release:

I only wish that I could attend the viewings, but alas, I reside in the middle of cow country and have to drive 70 miles for a decent theater as it is.  For you who get to go, let me know how cool it was, and if Frank Miller shows up in person!

The Dark Knight Returns Part 1will be released on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download on September 25.

Here is a plot synopsis:It’s been a decade since Bruce Wayne hung up his cape, following most of the other superheroes who had been forced into retirement. Facing the downside of middle age, a restless Bruce Wayne pacifies his frustration with race cars and liquor – but the bat still beckons as he watches his city fall prey to gangs of barbaric criminals known as The Mutants. The return of Harvey Dent as Two-Face finally prompts Wayne to once again don the Dark Knight’s cowl, and his dramatic capture of the villain returns him to crime-fighting – simultaneously making him the target of law enforcement and the new hope for a desolate Gotham City. Particularly inspired is a teenage girl named Carrie, who adopts the persona of Robin and ultimately saves Batman from a brutal attack by the Mutant leader. Armed with a new sidekick, and re-energized with a definitive purpose, the Dark Knight returns to protect Gotham from foes new…and old.
