If you haven’t seen the first part to The Dark Knight Returns, then you are missing a thing of pure genius. It’s no surprise that the animated feature based of Frank Miller’s comic turned out so great, given the source material; but the people over at Warner Premiere really outdid themselves. Featuring the voice talents as Peter Weller (Robocop) as Batman, Ariel Winter as Robin, and Michael Emerson (Lost) as The Joker. The first part focused on Batman’s return after being retired for a number of years, to take down a criminal group calling themselves The Mutants. As you can guess, Batman decimated their leader and now his cult of followers turn towards Batman for his replacement.

For the second part, there’s more a focus on The Joker’s role, as well as Superman. Superman being the incredible chump that he is, only sees the world in Blue and Red and never grey. Batman takes it upon himself to show him the “light.” Take a look at the incredible new trailer below, and get ready for 2013 to see Batman’s final return!

Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part 2 will have a heavy presence at New York Comic Con, showing footage and hosting a panel featuring executive producer Bruce Timm, dialogue/casting director Andrea Romano and special guests on Saturday, October 13 from 12:15-1:15 p.m. in the IGN Theater at the Jacob Javitz Center.
