One of the biggest questions about the status of the DC movie-verse is, what’s going on with the Ezra Miller The Flash? I personally keep laughing every time I hear that “it’s coming” or the movie is coming out on this date but hasn’t even begun production or my personal favorite, “hey, maybe we’ll make a movie about THIS CHARACTER now. I will say that as of late DC seems to be a little more solid on their follow through. That is why when news struck that Ezra Miller was taking over on script writing duties I raised my eyebrow, then they attached Grant Morrison‘s name. Now you have my attention.

Morrison is known for his “weirder” storytelling ways and he has always been a favorite of mine. How would a Flash movie with this kind of influence look like? Well for one thing it looks like they are going for a darker tone. I’m not super sure about this move, but at the same time with The Flash on TV I think that DC would want to deviate a little bit from those “feels”.  Last thing we heard was that the movie would really delve into the Speedforce. I think that Morrison could craft an interesting story and really open up some mythos on the big screen. If you have been watching Doom Patrol on DC Universe then you know that his influences are heavy when it comes to the development of that show.

Ezra Miller has been attached to The Flash for the past 5 years and it sounds like he may be in a race to save his job. If the guy wants to play the character this bad then for Godspeed sake let him! His contract is apparently up in May so there’s a date when this could all fall apart OR come together by. Will Miller come up with something that is agreeable with directors John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein? Whom want a lighter movie in the wake of the success of Aquaman and the early positive reactions to Shazam!, can you blame them? The “darker” direction which Miller wants to take may be too much in line with what Zack Snyder was doing and we all saw how that worked out. More news should come from this announcement and maybe we will hear news of a Flash script surfacing and production starting soon. Who knows, but we can have hope or we can go and watch the Flash on TV.
