PAX sent out an advisory message to attendees regarding this week’s convention in Boston, MA. As you may have seen (and if you haven’t, you’re clearly in a part of the country that doesn’t get snow or is conveniently located under some type of rock formation) that they’ve gotten sizeable quantities of snow over the last few months. They strongly encouraged attendees to not arrive at the Boston Convention Center before 8:00 AM, lest they wait in the freezing cold for longer than necessary. They also advised coming later in the day, which does cut down on wait times but may cause you to miss some of the pretty cool panels happening earlier than that.

Transportation may also be a challenge, so allowing yourself plenty of time to get there will be critical. Friday is likely to be the most stressful day to use public transit as you are also sharing space with local commuters.

It is very likely that bag checks will be part of the entry process again this year, so it is advised to be ready to open them and subject them to screening. With threats from Gamergate, there is a good chance that there will be even more security and PAX will be even less tolerant of threats made against other attendees. It’s supposed to be cold, but if you can avoid wearing a puffy jacket, your life will be better for it.

Speaking of Security concerns, Brianna Wu’s Giant Spacekat will not be attending the convention this year out of concern for the safety of their employees. The creators of Revolution 60 released a statement back in February. Wu will attend to fulfill obligations she made to sit on panels during the three-day event.

As of this writing, no major studios have announced any big titles that will debut at PAX, but we still have a few days to go. As you recall, last year Gearbox announced Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel at the convention and had an exhibit that showed ten minutes of live game footage at their booth.

Of course, if any of this changes and we are certain that it will, you can follow @DFATowel on Instagram and Twitter and @jackiebeiter on the same. See you this weekend!
