We have a couple of big announcements for The Walking Dead today. First up, newcomer, Alanna Masterson will be joining the cast. No word on who she’ll be playing in the series, but it’s rumored to be the character of Tara Chalmers, who made her debut in issue 104 of the Robert Kirkman comic series.

The other piece of news is that webisodes will be back this season. Series producer, Greg Nicotero, will be writing/directing “The Oath”; which will be three webisodes. (7 to 10 minutes each) The series follows , Paul (Wyatt RussellCowboys & Aliens) and Karina (Ashley BellThe Last Exorcism), as they search for an aid-station, as one of them is bleeding to death. When they finally come across a hospital that appears Walker-free, they come across a doctor, Ellen Greene (Little Shop of Horrors) who may hide a darker agenda.

Nicotero went on to comment about the webisodes:

[box_light]”The webisodes give us a unique opportunity to see other parts of the ravaged world of ‘The Walking Dead’ while weaving in and out of our show. The crossover between ‘The Oath’ and ‘The Walking Dead’ ties in one of the most iconic images from the series, and gives us insights and history to yet another timeline. I had worked with Ashley on ‘The Last Exorcism’ and brought in Wyatt and Ellen, who rounded out the brilliant cast perfectly.”[/box_light]

The Walking Dead returns to AMC for it’s fourth episode on October 13th!
