Deadweight

Well Towelites, remember when I thought they were trying to make us like The Governor?  I guess they’re done with that story line!  He’s back folks, and badder than ever!

While living in their camp, The Governor seems to be falling into place with his family and their community there.  He’s on the team going on runs with Martinez and the brothers (Pete and the other guy who’s name I don’t remember right now.)  He’s following orders and putting up a good front.  Doing laundry, playing chess, basically playing house with Lily and Megan, and fooling everyone around him.

From my interpretation, while on runs with Martinez and the guys, he seems to be sizing everyone up.  Making friends while staying private, trying to compile as much information on them as he can.  You can just see the wheels turning in his head and from the very beginning you know he’s up to something.

While on a run at a cabin, they find bodies along the way with signs attached to them.  “Rapist,” “Murderer,” etc.  When they get to the cabin they find the guy outside of it with a self inflicted shot to the head just hunched over next to the front door.  They get in and find a couple of Walkers, nothing serious.  There’s a minor attack, no one is bit, all is well. Aside from the Walkers they find beer!  Woohoo!

Once they’re back at the camp grounds, getting drunk and hanging out, everything seems fine.  Martinez and The Governor go to shoot some golf balls off the top of an RV and that’s when he makes his true comeback.  What seems like a possible threat to his family by Martinez seems to turn The Governor back into his former self and he whacks him over the head with a golf club, kicks him off the RV and drags him to the Walker pit, all the while saying “I didn’t want to.”  I took that as he didn’t want to give in to the impulse and turn back into the evil maniac that he used to be, but who knows really.  Now he’s gone and fed Martinez to The Walkers and when everyone finds out, Pete steps up to be in charge.

While they’re on another run, The Governor, Pete and Pete’s brother they come across a camp that looks stocked.  Pete wants to bring everyone back to their camp, but his brother wants to just kill them all and take all of their stuff.  While they’re debating everything, someone else comes along, kills everyone and steals all their stuff, so I guess they should’ve done it first?  Regardless, it’s done and there’s really nothing left at their camp.

When they get back home, The Governor goes to pay a visit to Pete.  He stabs him and drags him down to the lake. Then goes to visit his brother, I thought he was going to kill him too, try to get everyone that could possibly rise to the top there out of the way, but he offered him a “position” with him.  To be his right hand as long as he didn’t question him running the show there.  He took it, of course, and now we have a new Woodbury I guess.  Oh, and he also has a new aquarium!  That’s right, apparently there were weights on Pete’s feet and when he threw him in the lake it just weighed him down, so now he’s a floating Walker that The Governor can go visit any time he wants.  What a psycho!

Next week is the mid-season finale and it looks as though they are going to attack the prison.  Actually, it looks EXACTLY like the end of the first compendium!  I’m not excited to see who from our beloved group will parish in the fight, but I’m hoping that the outcome for The Governor is the same as it is in the book.  Who knows though, they change so much in the show I’m excited to see how it will play out!
