This week’s episode of The Walking Dead was just, weird. Not weird in a bad way, but it is a bit odd to see everyone all cleaned up and walking around a community like nothing happened. Well, THEY aren’t acting like nothing happened, but you get what I’m saying right? Actually, it seems to me like most everyone is still having their reservations about life in Alexandria. I’ve heard it explained a couple of times like taking in a wild animal and expecting them to be tamed, I think that’s a pretty good analogy of this place.

The Good:

– Rick, Carol and Daryl are the most skeptical of everyone, so they’re having secret meetings outside the walls trying to get some sort of plan together in case everything goes bad. They’ve decided to break into the armory and steal some guns so they can have them on hand. Carol is going to do the stealing since she’s basically invisible, according to her.

– Sasha wants to be the main person at the look out tower to help keep the community safe. Deanna admits to them that they never have anyone up there. Which of course shocks Rick and everyone else. They try to explain to her that it’s necessary, that they need to be weary of people, more than Walkers, and that someone will come along and try to take everything away from them if they’re not careful.

– Deanna’s has a welcome party for our group. The whole situation is just odd. I mean, it’s a cocktail party, with drinks and finger foods. Everyone is hanging out and chatting it up all relaxed and at ease. Our group is on edge, and definitely uncomfortable with it, but they do try to make the best of it. Could you imagine that though? After living out there for years, fighting to survive, then all of a sudden you’re at a party eating and laughing. It makes you realize how under prepared the residents of Alexandria actually are.

– While Daryl and Aaron are out hunting, they find Buttons, a wild horse that Aaron’s been trying to get back into the walls of Alexandria. Unfortunately, they weren’t able to save him before the Walkers took him down and ate him. Honestly, this was as bad, or worse, than any human death I’ve seen on the show. It really bothered me. Poor Buttons.

– Daryl attempts to go to the party, but he just can’t seem to do it. When he’s walking back home Aaron invites him in for a pasta dinner at his house with him and Eric. After Daryl’s done eating like a starved animal, Aaron takes him out to the garage to show him a bike and parts he has in there, explaining to him that he’ll need a bike if he’s going to help be the new recruiter for Alexandria. When he explains to him that he understands that he can’t be holed up in that place for too long, that he knows he needs to get outside of the walls every now and then, and that he knows that Daryl can tell a good person from a bad person, you could tell how much it meant to Daryl. You can see that Aaron (who I’ve decided I really like by the way) means well and that he and Daryl have some kind of bond going. I thought it was sweet.

– Carol went to get the guns out of the armory, but was followed by Sam, Jessie’s son, because he wanted more cookies. That’s when Carol threatens this kid. That poor kid! I swear he probably peed his pants, I would’ve! Telling him that if he tells anyone what he saw there that she would kidnap him and hang him from a tree, that no one would come except for the Walkers who would eat him alive. OR, he can keep his mouth shut and get lots of cookies. Ha! She is ruthless! I don’t like when kids are scared, but I love Carol. Then, when she goes to meet with Rick and Daryl to give them the guns and they’re both like, “You know, we’ve thought about it and this really isn’t necessary.” She looked like she was going to hit them!

– Michonne hangs her katana up over the fireplace, which is a big move for her. Obviously she’s feeling alright about Alexandria, because that sword is an extension of her, seeing her without it just doesn’t seem right. But, it is right there if she needs it, she hasn’t let it go too far.

– I think Rick might be losing it a little bit. At the party, he tries to kiss Jessie, which I get, she’s cute and there was obviously some little spark there, but it was weird. Then, at the end, she’s walking with her husband and he reaches behind him and puts his hand on his gun, kind of like, if I shoot him she can be mine. And then, after all of that, he stands at the wall and strokes it. I don’t know what is going on with him, but I think maybe he’s becoming a crazy person!

The Bad:

– I still don’t know what to make of this place. I want to trust it, so badly, but I don’t know yet. It seems legit, and I’m actually a little worried that our group is going to be the bad guys in this situation. That’s not sitting well with me.

Next week we get to see a bit of action, and get to know Crazy Pete, Jessie’s husband, a little better. I have a feeling he’s going to be a problem.
