Here’s the deal, all you nerds out there bitching about this movie need to shut up. In the first place there is no confirmation of exactly how this movie is going to play out. Here’s a little excerpt of what James Mangold had to say about The Wolverine:

“Where this film sits in the universe of the films is after them all… Jean Grey is gone, most of the X-Men are disbanded or gone, so there’s a tremendous sense of isolation for him.”

We will most likely see a lot of flashbacks, as Logan’s past is something that really needs to be covered more than what has already happened in the present. We already have the story that the X-Men trilogy offered up. What we haven’t seen is his time in Japan and you know that this entire movie is going to be a flashback. Here’s a pic showing Logan with his bone claws, which most likely will take place before the Weapon X program, or even an unfinished scene without the CGI claws added in!

THE WOLVERINE Is Not A Prequel

Don’t be fooled by the speculation. Fox has learned a lot since the start of Marvel Studios, and I think that they are on the right track.  The idea that this movie would ever be a standalone movie is ridiculous and with Days of Future Past on its way and the rumors of the original X-Men team showing up, everything may get tied together very neatly. Here’s another quote from Mangold about his philosophy on how  he wanted to portray Logan:

“That’s something that for me was very important, that I land in a very specific place in his timeline, I wanted to be able to tell the story without the burden of handing it off to a film that already exists and having to conform to it. The ideas of immortality reign very heavily in this story and the burden of immortality weighs heavily on Logan. For me that’s such an interesting part of Logan’s character that is nearly impossible to explore if you have a kind of league or team movie.”

Understand this nerds, I think Marvel’s division of movies at Fox are in good hands with Mark Millar consulting,  have faith in what X-Men: First Class had to offer and now, the unfortunate of course, departure of Matthew Vaughn may pave the way for Brian Singer to return…who knows what’s ahead for us.

Stay Tooned 😛
