Words from Wolvie himself, Hugh Jackman says that this Wolverine movie is to be viewed as a standalone tale, with no extra mutants on top. An approach that I totally agree with. Wolverine Origins was a mess, with poor character representation, especially the way they treated Deadpool in the end, it is no wonder Director James Mangold and writers Christopher McQuarrie/Mark Bomback are straying away from that installment.

Here’s an excerpt from an interview, with Jackman, from Total Film Magazine:

“We’ve deliberately not called it Wolverine 2 because we want it to be placed and feel like a standalone picture. With an all-new cast and setting it in Japan, it’s going to give us a whole new visual aesthetic. The approach to character means we won’t be overloaded with mutants and teams and the like, so it’ll be more character-based. I think in many ways it will feel like a completely different X-Men film.”

The Wolverine releases on July 26, 2013, Bub!
