Thomas had never been in a position where he could feel his world crumbling around him so vividly. The reality that he was sure existed at some point was fading to a pinpoint on the horizon of his life. He had come home to a letter that said his wife was leaving him. She attributed this change in lifestyle to a video that had wound up on her desk earlier. Thomas knew the video well.

Black Bolt #9 (Marvel)

Saladin Ahmed (W) Christian Ward (A)

People are rightfully pissed that Black Bolt is back. One of those guys is Captain America? I’m not sure, really I’m just going by the cover art here. Quality journalism.

Green Arrow #36 (DC)

Benjamin Percy (W) Juan Ferreyra (A)

This big ole series long arc is coming to an end in a couple issues. Apparently come March, we’re gonna be done with this whole Ninth Circle business. I wonder what that means for the creative team.

Hawkeye #14 (Marvel)

Kelly Thompson (W) Leonardo Romero (A)

You may have heard that this comic is getting cancelled in March. That’s very sad, this comic is great, but I guess I didn’t convince enough of you to read it. This is all your fault.

Iron Fist #76 (Marvel)

Ed Brisson (W) Mike Perkins (A)

Brisson knows how to make these characters pop. This series just keeps getting better. It always helps when you have something pretty to look at.

No. 1 With a Bullet #3 (Image)

Jacob Semahn (W) Jorge Corona (A)

This series is smart, dark, and very real. Almost to an uncomfortable level. If you binged the new season of Black Mirror, this book is probably for you.

X-Men: Grand Design #2 (Marvel)

Ed Piskor (W/A)

Holy hell is this book dense. It’s worth the larger price point though. If you love easter eggs and random comic trivia, or really just love the art of comics and storytelling, you should read this book.

Astonishing X-Men #7 (Marvel)

Charles Soule (W) Phil Noto (A)

That last issue dropped a crazy bomb on us. This is just a maxi series, but I can see why this comic is going to change the X-Men game for a while.

Batman: White Knight #4 (DC)

Sean Murphy (W/A)

I am really interested in where this comic is going. If you love brilliant art, read this book.

Justice League #36 (DC)

Christopher Priest (W) Pete Woods (A)

Man, this book is actually tackling a lot of really cool ideas. Good. It’s fucking Justice League, it should be good.

Exit Stage Left: The Snagglepuss Chronicles #1 (DC)

Mark Russell (W) Mike Feehan (A)

I am really fucking excited for this book I can’t really explain it other than it’s a fucking Snagglepuss book. You should be excited too.

Babyteeth #7 (Aftershock)

Donny Cates (W) Garry Brown (A)

This book is great. Read this book. It’s got satan and stuff, which is metal as fuck.

Secret Weapons #0 (Valiant)

Eric Heisserer (W) Adam Pollina (A)

This is a prequel comic to what was my favorite Valiant series of 2017, that’s high praise. Valiant has been consistently amazing for the last few years. Try this comic.

Jimmy’s Bastards #6 (Aftershock)

Garth Ennis (W) Russell Braun (A)

Okay, this totally wasn’t on last weeks pull. Totally, so don’t even go look.

Paper Girls #19 (Image)

Brian K. Vaughan (W) Cliff Chiang (A)

After they explained to me what the hell is going on in this comic, I love it even more. If you are new to it, hang on, it’s a wild ride.

The Gravediggers Union #3 (Image)

Wes Craig (W) Toby Cypress (A)

This is one of my favorite new series. It’s absolutely incredible. It’s so odd and funny and dark and bleak and exciting. Dig it.

Captain America #697 (Marvel)

Mark Waid (W) Chris Samnee (A)

This series has been incredible so far. Redemption is a hard thing to come by and these guys have it by the ears. Phenominal.

Batman #38 (DC)

Tom King (W) Travis Moore (A)

This comic has been one of the most wholesome experiences recently. That’s really something considering it’s the Goddamn Batman, but this issue looks like it may take a turn. I like that too.

Protocol in situations like this varied, but Thomas knew that this video was likely distributed to everyone important in his life. The video chronicled the murder of a man that had been well known to anyone close to him. His former employer, a man who had punished Thomas. He was being bludgeoned to death by his own gun. Thomas looked through the camera into his own eyes. A chill ran down his spine.
