The lights in the bus shut off as the last few people found their seats. Ian had been fortunate enough to get a seat to himself, it may have been the backpack that was draped across the arms of the chair. Suddenly, soaked in darkness, Ian fell into himself with a strange mischievous glee. It was something primal that Ian couldn’t place. He wrapped himself in his jacket and the bus hissed to life.

Dark Red #1 (Aftershock)

Tim Seeley (W) Corin Powell (A)

You know, I don’t know much about this one. Premise is interesting, talented creators on board, and you know I like supporting smaller presses. It just kinda fit. Also, I think vampires finally made a full circle and are cool again. That’s nice.

The Life and Death of Toyo Harada #1 (of 6) (Valiant)

Joshua Dysart (W) Cafu/Mico Suayan (A)

I feel like it has been a while since I read anything Valiant, but the latest wave of stuff they’ve announced has been piquing my curiosity.

Invisible Kingdom #1 (Berger Books)

G. Willow Wilson (W) Christian Ward (A)

Look at the fucking talent on this book, on top of Berger Books phenomenal track record. There is really no reason a sensible person would turn down this series.

Spider-Man: Life Story #1 (of 6) (Marvel)

Chip Zdarsky (W) Mark Bagley (A)

I am soooo fucking ready for this book. I cannot explain just how much this book hits the spot. I loved Zdarsky’s run on Spectacular Spider-Man last year. This is a brilliant idea that may have been done with Batman before. It’s a perfect fit for Spidey and I am gushing.

Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Terror #6 (Ahoy)

Peter Milligan (W) Peter Snejbjerg (A)

What a fucking weird book. Right?

Captain Marvel #3 (Marvel)

Kelly Thompson (W) Carmen Carnero (A)

I am digging the ramp up in this book. I am anticipating what is going to happen in the new setting. Sending me little flashbacks to Remender’s run on Captain America which is a pretty good thing honestly.

Aquaman #46 (DC)

Kelly Sue DeConnick (W) Robson Rocha (A)

This book has been snowballing into something massive. I don’t think I’m going to be reading when it hits me. Amazing talent doing amazing work. What can you dislike about that?

Farmhand #6 (Image)

Rob Guillory (W) Taylor Wells (A)

Talk about weird books. It is insanely admirable the strangeness of this book. It has a tone that is so wildly unique. I’m excited to jump back into it and get that good kind of confused, like when you watch Akira for the first time.

Pearl #7 (DC)

Brian Michael Bendis (W) Michael Gaydos (A)

This has been my second favorite (behind Cover) Bendis original title coming out of DC. Michael Gaydos’s art is inescapably awesome and that plays a major part in this book being as enthralling as it is. A story about art has got to have some pretty things to look at.

Savage Sword of Conan #3 (Marvel)

Gerry Duggan (W) Ron Garney (A)

The way that this book is shaping up looks to be promising. I like the idea of an anthology book based in the Conan-verse. Why don’t we have more anthology books for characters like this? Spider-Man anthology, anyone?

Miles Morales: Spider-Man #4 (Marvel)

Saladin Ahmed (W) Javier Garron (A)

Anything Ahmed touches at this point is bound to be good. This book is no exception. The art is energetic and matches the wonderful personality of the protagonist and the world he inhabits. Honestly, the world needs more Morales right now.

Avengers #17 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) David Marquez (A)

Wrapping up the Avengers vs. Dracula arc. Will Captain America punch Dracula? Seriously, I’ve made this joke too many times for it to not happen now. Somebody please.

Guardians of the Galaxy #3 (Marvel)

Donny Cates (W) Geoff Shaw (A)

The dynamic duo are bringing the thunder on another book. I mean seriously? Is anyone surprised this is good?

Justice League #20 (DC)

Scott Snyder (W) Jorge Jimenez (A)

I really love the last issue of this book and from what I’ve heard, that issue is gonna kinda set the tone for the book going forward. That makes me incredibly excited.

Batman #67 (DC)

Tom King (W) Lee Weeks (A)

Last time this team got together, we got one of my favorite arcs in this series. I know that this is just a one off issue but this team fills me with hope. Not something I usually say about Batman.

Lucifer #6 (Vertigo)

Dan Watters (W) Max Fiumara/Sebastian Fiumara (A)

Things are less confusing now. I get more things now. All is good. I am happy. Lucifer on the other hand, is not.

Thor #11 (Marvel)

Jason Aaron (W) Lee Garbett (A)

I am honestly getting more and more hype for this event. Normally my hype is at its highest when the event is announced and slowly winds down as it gets closer. Anyway, yeah, next month. Boom.

The Wild Storm #21 (WildStorm)

Warren Ellis (W) Jon Davis-Hunt (A)

It’s weird to think that this series is winding down. I feel like it has been a staple of my pull list for so long and dammit, I am gonna miss this book. This last arc has been the arc Ellis has been saving for a reason. It’s so damn good.

Venom #12 (Marvel)

Donny Cates (W) Ryan Stegman (A)

There is a vein that this series has tapped. It feels like a book from another era, and I think what these guys wanted it to feel that way. They did it, they also made a fucking great comic.

Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #4 (Marvel)

Tom Taylor (W) Juann Cabal (A)

This book is vying to be my favorite ongoing Spider-Man book. It’s such a warm, wholesome book and it has introduced some of the biggest stakes of any Spider-Man books on the shelves. Read it if you want to know what I’m talking about.

West Coast Avengers #9 (Marvel)

Kelly Thompson (W) Gang Hyuk Lim (A)

My heart breaks for this book. It was such a solid book and only seemed to get better as it went on. It was funny and fast paced and full of comic love.

The Immortal Hulk #15 (Marvel)

Al Ewing (W) Joe Bennett (A)

Lets just talk about the indisputable champion of superhero comics. This book blows my fucking mind. This book is fucking fantastic and you are a monumental goober for waiting this long to read it.

Criminal #3 (Image)

Ed Brubaker (W) Sean Phillips (A)

We know how I feel about this team. I’m a sucker for their brand of crime drama. This book fills a whole in my life.

Not minutes into the ride, trees started closing in on the small road. Soon they were sailing through a hallway of greenery. The leaves roofing the road making the dark alleyway even darker. It felt like a descent into madness, and while the rest of the patrons on the bus were dozing, Ian watched with fascination as the trees began to wrap around him and the bus.
