Our good friend Zach Oat was once again more than happy to give us a tour of the Diamond Select Toys booth. The last time we spoke with Zach was at NYCC and there were a lot of cool products coming up that we couldn’t show you at the time, but now that they are near release, we have some great pics to share! There are a ton of great Select figures and MiniMates to show you, so let’s get started!

First up we have a look at the upcoming Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallow Man banks. Shown above are both the evil and happy versions of the 24 inch banks due out this spring. Also shown is the upcoming “battle damaged” version which will be in the 11 inch scale, which I think will fit right in with the MiniMates figures for the ultimate battle! Look forward to more Ghostbusters MiniMates, the set shown is available now, but there will be more movie and animated series sets coming soon.

With the next Marvel Studios film, Captain America: The Winter Soldier coming out in April, of course Diamond Select is in on the action! On display they had both of the Marvel Select figures, Super Soldier Cap and the Falcon. I think that the Falcon is one of the most impressive Marvel Select figures I have seen to date! Cap will be available April/May and Falcon will be released a little bit after the other products. I asked Zach why they were limited to releasing only two figures per movie, he responded that with the number of Marvel movies released every year (2) DST can’t really overextend themselves. In regards to why they chose to do the figures that they have, for example Falcon and Jane Foster, Zach said that the opportunity was there, when you have to chance to do a Natalie Portman figure you do it. In the example of Falcon, Zach said they weren’t really sure when the character would be back again and also that his costume is a pretty cool design, so he was an easy choice. For the Winter Soldier they wanted to do Black Widow, but she may come around in the next Avengers release. As for the Winter Soldier himself, the guy just got a Disney Store exclusive release, what more do you want?! I kid.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will feature only one Marvel Select figure, but DST will also be releasing a bust, a resin statue, and MiniMates to go along side it. MiniMates 2 Packs will be available and cover most of the characters, and Toys R Us will have an exclusive 2 pack with a civilian Max Dillon. I did get to see the Guardians of the Galaxy MiniMates, as they had them all on display, but unfortunately those are top-secret as of right now so no pics. What I can tell you is that the Rocket Raccoon is in scale to his character. Also on display, but no photos, X-Men: Days of Future Past MiniMates! I am really looking forward to all these comic book movies and their related products! Also coming soon will be a “Best Of” Marvel Mini-Mates series featuring some of the more popular MiniMates to date!

Diamond Select Toys 11For you 1960’s Classic Batman TV series fans out there, DST will be releasing more of their awesome character busts. On hand they had Batman and Robin of course, along with Joker and an upcoming Riddler (not shown). Also look for Batsusi Bats as well, because when it comes to the classic series you can’t live without that interpretation! These are vinyl bust banks with the coin slot in the back and will be released monthly/bi-monthly.

Next up we have some really great new products based on movie franchises that DST is gearing up to release. First up we finally have a look at the FULL Sin City assortment, Select figures and MiniMates! All of the classic characters are here and what I really like about them is that they stick to the gray-scale coloring that makes the series so unique. Look forward to figures based on the upcoming sequel, A Dame to Kill For! At NYCC it was only announced that DST had acquired to rights to Pulp Fiction and at Toy Fair we got our first look at these highly anticipated lines. Finally, you can see the Kill Bill MiniMates that are available in honor of the movie’s 10th anniversary. On display but not pictured is the upcoming Select line! They will be released in sets of three this summer and fall. The figures on display are beautiful and I am really excited for these to hit stores. I really think that DST is taking their Select lines to a whole new level and I am really happy that they have been able to acquire these great licenses to do so.

DST are big Jay and Silent Bob fans, if you remember they did some figures based on Bluntman and Chronic a while back, and now they are ready for the full onslaught! Look for Select figures for the famous duo with a reversible background that features both the inside and outside of the video store from Clerks. On the MiniMates side of things we will see releases from Clerks which are faithful depicted in black and white, and a couple of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back sets. No word yet on Mallrats or Chasing Amy, but I am holding on to hope for a Brodie one!

I saved the best for last, and I really hope that this series does well (I don’t see why it wouldn’t). On display were three sets of Aliens MiniMates, we are only allowed to show you one of them and that’s the one that has been officially announced, you know the one featuring the first Paul Reiser figure ever! But the other two look great and I really hope that they happen. The Ripley and Newt ones were not on display and I didn’t ask why, so we will see down the road. I did ask if they are planning on doing a Powerloader, Zach responded that they are definitely interested in doing some larger sets including the Alien Queen!

Diamond Select Slider USE THIS ONESo there you have it, DST totally rocked it at Toy Fair! Thank you again to Zach Oat who was a great host and always takes time to show us DST’s great products!
