Well Towelites it has been a long, full week of writing for me. I can’t believe that it’s been a full week since I set foot on the floor of Toy Fair for the first time ever. I had a great time and met some cool people along the way, you can check out all of interviews and coverage from the show here. I am looking forward to the year ahead of us with all of the great releases headed to stores, it’s going to be an expensive year!
There were some companies I was not able to fully cover, but I would like to share with you my highlights of some of the great products due out in 2014!
Square Enix doesn’t just make awesome video games, they actually produce one of my favorite deluxe action figure lines ever, Play Arts Kai. Check out some of the exciting characters coming out in 2014! Darkseid!!!
Figma is another company that sculpts really beautiful figures, we have seen these Nintendo characters previously but I wanted to share them with you again. My highlight, figures based on one of my favorite animes of all time, Berserk! Not on hand was the supposed Indiana Jones figure that is due out this year. When I asked about it, I was kind of given the run around. There may be some licensing issue on that one, I hope not…. Announced this week, Figma will be making a line of Avengers figures! I will be dropping the news on those tomorrow!
Dark Horse creates some great statues and busts, and at the show they had a wide array of licenses on display. Shown here, Game of Thrones, Grimm, and The Legend of Zelda.
Kotobukiya, another great Japanese import company. I am a big fan of their DC Comics New 52 line, and as you all know they have some key figures releasing this year. The exciting news at the show was that they will be releasing a set based on Marvel NOW! and just like the New 52 series, it will be based on the original art. Check out that epic Hulk statue! Kotobukiya also does Star Wars products and they have a Mara Jade statue coming out this year that I can’t deny!
Underground Toys has all the Doctor Who merchandise for you WHOvians out there! Check out their huge display! Also, Ghostbusters and Star Wars collectibles galore! I really like that Boba Fett watch!
Here are some of my final highlights in random from the show. QMX has some great Firefly products and they are also the company that will be releasing the upcoming Firefly Online game. It will be released on mobile first, with the consoles/PC hopefully to follow. Metal Earth 3D, who normally does famous buildings is expanding to a galaxy far, far away with their new Star Wars metal model kits, just a warning, these are not for kids! The MAFEX The Amazing Spider-Man 2 figure may be the greatest Spidey figure ever made! Isn’t that a really cool Mario display?! Who doesn’t need dolls based on Anchorman?!!
Well that about sums it up Towelites! I hope you enjoyed my coverage of Toy Fair 2014 this past week! I had a blast and I am looking forward to doing it again next year! Keep it tooned here to DFAT for updates on all of your favorite toys and collectibles!
