Starship Troopers has been one of my favorite films for the past 20 years. I remember it was one of the first films that came to the new theatre in my small hometown. I also remember the trailer had Song #2 from Blur attached to it, and I waited the whole movie to hear it. It was then that I realized that music was just a marketing tool on a trailer. Regardless, the film blew me away and I’ve watched all the subsequent sequels and animated tv series of the franchise.
This Summer, for some reason, we’re getting a new animated movie that will premiere for One Night Only as a Fathom event. The movie is called Starship Troopers: Traitor of Mars. Casper Van Dien and Dina Meyers will reprise their roles as Rico and Dizzy. The original writer, Eric Neumeier is back to pen the screenplay!
Here’s information on the screenings for the one-night-only debut:
Theater screenings will take place in nearly 500 select theaters across the country on Monday, August 21st, with two screenings at 7:30 p.m. and 10 p.m. local time in each location. Each screening will feature bonus material beyond the movie itself, with Neumeier and Van Dien introducing the movie, along with interviews with the filmmakers and behind-the-scenes footage. Tickets for the event will be available online starting June 19th.
