When I first heard the news of a fourth Transformers movie, I was super pumped. To see more of my Autobot friends wail on some Decepticon scum, is more than enough to get me to the movie theatre. Then, I heard that Michael Bay would return to the franchise, and Shia LaBeouf was out. This was fine with me too, let’s take things in a new direction without that stammering kid.

Today, I’m happy to hear that not only is Mark Wahlberg going to star in the film (which was already confirmed); but also new-comer Jack Reynor would be joining the cast. Not only that, but the movie will usher in a brand new trilogy to the franchise. Read the quote from Michael Bay himself.

I just hired a great new actor for Transformers 4 to star against Mark Wahlberg. Jack Reynor, he is an Irish kid that came to America with 30 bucks in his pocket. Pretty ballsy. Seriously, who does that? Anyway I spotted him in a great little Irish movie WHAT RICHARD DID. This kid is the real deal.

Transformers 4 is not a reboot. That word has been floating around on the net.

This movie takes place exactly 4 years after the war in Chicago. The story makes a very natural transition, and reason as to why we have a whole new cast. This Transformers will feel very different then the last three. We are embarking on a new trilogy.

Filming will begin in May and the film itself isis set to hit theaters June 27th, 2014.
