Time for an onslaught of announcements from your favorite TV shows and some newcomers that are on the horizon!!

The artistic Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge!, Great Gatsby) has entered a 2-year deal with Sony TV and will be developing projects through his company Bazmark Films. Luhrmann had this to say about the endeavor: “I make films very infrequently and yet I have so many ideas and stories to explore. The idea that I can be creative in between films is energizing and exiting,” I have been a big fan of his work, with Moulin Rouge! being my personal favorite, so I am excited to see what he will bring to this medium. -Deadline

 

J.J. Abrams is a busy man, with Revolution already being praised as a hit, Abrams is hard at work to develop more hits! Next up, it looks as if he will team up with director Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban) to direct an untitled project about a girl with developing supernatural powers and the man who is ‘sprung’ from prison to protect and teach her. The Pilot has been ordered by NBC. -Deadline

 

Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek: TNG mastermind Ronald D Moore is working with ABC to develop a series based on the movie A Knight’s Tale, which starred the late Heath Ledger. The show is currently being scripted and will follow the same plot as the movie. -Vulture

 

Guillermo Del Toro is getting some great opportunities on the TV side lately! With the Nutshell Cases being developed over at HBO, and now his original Vampire series The Strain is being optioned over at FX. Toro will work with co-writer Chuck Hogan to turn their story into an ongoing show and Lost show-runner Carlton Cuse will act as executive producer. The Strain was written as a trilogy and then adapted into an ongoing comic book series by Dark Horse Comics. -ComicBookMovie

 

The Coen Brothers’ classic Academy Award winning movie, Fargo, is coming to television as an ongoing series! FX has just closed the deal with the Coen’s acting as executive producers and Noah Hawley (Bones) to write. -Deadline
