Ridley Scott has a son named Luke, and he’s decided to make a short film called ‘Loom.’ The movie takes place in a dystopian future and is very reminiscent of the world his father created in Blade Runner; which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. The short stars Giovanni Ribisi (Friends) and is in association with RED camera. If you’ve never seen what RED cameras can do, well prepare to be a bit blown away.  This film is intended to help showcase the prototype REDray 3D laser player. The film was constructed for 3D and was needed to push the limits of the cameras exposure sensitivity and colour range and 4K projection. Visually the film is unmatched to date in it’s use of RED’s new technology.  Of course, Peter Jackson is using the RED Epic camera for The Hobbit, which shoots in 48fps. So, that could really be the TRUE test of these cameras.  You can read more about the 48fps here, and you can check out the ‘Loom‘ short below.
