We all knew it was but a matter of time before Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle would get toppled off it’s #1 spot in the Top Ten. The premiere of Maze Runner: The Death Cure was just the movie to do it with it’s $23.5 million premiere. This is pretty great news for the end of the YA adaptation but at the same time; it’s victory will be very short lived. Next weekend we get Fifty Shades Freed and there’s no way that it won’t take the top spot. So, enjoy it while is lasts.

In the meantime, Jumanji 2 didn’t really have anything to complain about with it coming in #2 this week. The film took in another $16.4 million and brought it’s domestic total to $338 million. That’s an insanely good feat for a film; but then it hardly had any competition through the cold winter days. The rest of the Top Five are below.

Weekend Domestic BO
1. ‘Maze Runner: The Death Cure’
$23,500,000

2. ’Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’
$16,400,000

3. ‘Hostiles’
$10,205,000

4. ‘The Greatest Showman’
$9,500,000

5. ‘The Post’
$8,850,000

As I mentioned earlier, Fifty Shades Freed opens up next weekend and it’ll no doubt knock Maze Runner down a couple of pegs. Obviously it’s catering to a different audience but with the franchise already almost a billion dollars at the Box Office so far. This film will only solidify that they get over that hump (hehe). Stay Tooned for the next edition of Weekend Roundup to find out just how much it makes!
