I can’t say that I’m completely surprised that the latest Tyler Perry movie is #1 at the Box Office this weekend. His films consistently bring in revenue and Boo! A Made Halloween is no different. I personally find nothing redeeming about his movies and this one, based on the preview alone; looked to add nothing different to set it apart from the other Madea films. Yet, as my grandma always said, “if it’s not broke..” The movie managed to take in $27.6mil.

That total was enough to knock down the other premiering films: Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, Ouija: Origin of Evil, and Keeping Up with the Joneses to 2nd, 3rd, and 7th spots respectively. You can see their earnings as well as the rest of the Top Ten below.

1.Boo! A Madea Halloween $27.6

2.Jack Reacher: Never Go Back $23.0

3.Ouija: Origin of Evil $14.1

4.The Accountant  $14

5.The Girl on the Train  $7.2

6.Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children  $6

7.Keeping Up with the Joneses $5.6

8.Kevin Hart: What Now?  $4.1

9.Storks  $4

10.Deepwater Horizon  $3.6

So, what can we expect from Halloween Weekend? The latest Tom Hanks playing Dan Brown adaptation, Inferno and American Pastoral. Yeah, pretty weak premieres for what should be a spooktacular weekend. If I had to put my money on anything, it would be a surprise comeback of Ouija 2. It’ll be the last weekend the tweens can go crazy and I think we’ll see an uptick of tickets for that film. Am I right? Find out on the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
