Despite the internet trolls crying the entire time leading up to Ready Player One, the Steven Spielberg-directed film debuted in #1 this past weekend. The movie adapted from the Ernest Cline novel, took in $41.2 million and was able to knock down Pacific Rim Uprising. In fact, PACRIM2 dropped all the way down to #5 with only $9.2 million.

The debate of Tyler Perry’s Acrimony took #2 with $17.1 million, which is pretty great given those movies usually cost less than $20 million to make. Perry just continues his domination tour at the Box Office when a new movie premieres. Paul, Apostle of Christ also made it’s debut this weekend in 10th place with $3.5 million. You can see the rest of the Top Ten below.

Next weekend, we have the releases of Blockers and A Quiet Place with the latter receiving some rave reviews.
