When someone tells you that ‘Superhero Fatigue’ is a thing, please laugh in their face and show them the numbers below. Captain Marvel debuted over the weekend, the 21st Marvel film to open in 11 years, to the amount of $153 million. This puts it at the 7th highest opening for a Marvel film. When you look at the Worldwide numbers, things get even crazier. The movie took in $302 million overseas and put it as the #1 female-led film debut and the 2nd highest Marvel film opening behind Avengers Infinity War. What was that fatigue you heard so much about?
While nothing else could even come close to those kind of numbers, How to Train Your Dragon 3 continued to bring in some money in the #2 spot by earning another $14.6 million. A Madea Family Funeral took in the 3rd spot with $12 million. The rest of the Top Ten you can see below.
