If you were wondering how things were going to shake out in Legendary’s Monsterverse, look no further than Kong: Skull Island. The film is the second entry in the verse, following along behind Godzilla. The King of the Apes was able to take in the #1 spot this weekend and knock last week’s winner, Logan, down to #2.
The film had a budget of more than $150 million and was able to come in the top spot at the Box Office with $61 million in revenue. It still has to open up in China, but that’s a pretty solid opening weekend. Logan only dropped down 60% and has grossed over $120 million domestically. The rest of the Top Ten is below.
