There was little doubt that the John Chu directed, G.I. Joe: Retaliation, would be #1 at the Box Office. The addition of Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis to the cast was the perfect recipe for financial sucess. The film brought in $41mil, taking the top spot against other new comer, Tyler Perry’s Temptation. Perry’s film debuted at $22mil, and since his films cost nothing, I’m sure he’ll have another hit on his hands.
Rounding out the rest of the Box Office were The Croods, taking in another $26mil, which means it will easily garner a sequel. Spring Breakers and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone were at the bottom, barely scraping $2mil dollars. Next weekend, we shall see if the Joe’s will last against the Evil Dead remake and The Host. I can only hope that audiences actually make the right decision and see Evil Dead. I know I will be!
