Summer 2013 has been a pretty lackluster time for the Box Office. I blame the quality of the films coming out. This weekend I was actually looking forward The World’s End being #1, but it was beat out by The Butler. I’m not even saying The Butler is a bad film, it’s probably fantastic; it’s just a shame that more genre films aren’t making money.
It’s really a shame that You’re Next didn’t premiere with more than $7mil at the Box Office; but at the same time, the film probably only cost that much to make. So, I guess that’s actually a win.
Title | Weekend | Total | |
1. | Lee Daniels’ The Butler | $17,018,000 | $52.2 |
2. | We’re the Millers | $13,500,000 | $91.7 |
3. | The Mortal Instruments | $9,300,000 | $14 |
4. | The World’s End | $8,942,000 | $8.9 |
5. | Planes | $8,567,000 | $59.5 |
6. | Elysium | $7,100,000 | $69 |
7. | You’re Next | $7,050,000 | $7 |
8. | Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters | $5,200,000 | $48.3 |
9. | Blue Jasmine | $4,300,119 | $14.7 |
10. | Kick-Ass 2 | $4,300,000 | $22.4 |
Next week, I’m expecting The Butler to be #1 again. It’s going up against Ethan Hawke’s, Getaway, and the One Direction film. What a way to end the summer.
