I guess it truly doesn’t matter what the Critics say, as Suicide Squad debuted at #1 at the Box Office this weekend and had the greatest August opening of all time with $135.1 million. The film has been critically panned as it sits at 26% on Rotten Tomatoes. On the flip side of that, audiences have given the film a 72% FRESH Rating; so it looks like money talks in this case for WB/DC. It will be interesting to see if the movie can sustain itself throughout the rest of the Month.

Last week’s #1 film, Jason Bourne dropped to second place with $22.7 million. Looks like audiences finally woke up on that one. The other debut of the week was Nine Lives starring Kevin Spacey. The movie looked completely horrid and the Box Office agreed, as it only earned back $6.5 million of it’s $30 million budget. The rest of the Top Ten you can see below.

1. Suicide Squad $135.1 million

2. Jason Bourne $22.7 million

3. Bad Moms $14.2 million

4. The Secret Life of Pets $11.6 million

5. Star Trek Beyond $10.2 million

6. Nine Live $6.5 million

7. Lights Out $6 million

8. Nerve $4.9 million

9. Ghostbusters $4.8 million

10. Ice Age: Collision Course $4.3 million

Next week, we have the premieres of Petes Dragon and Sausage Party. I can’t say that I’m excited for either of these films. The both look extremely mediocre and despite the problems that Suicide Squad had; I hope it’s #1 again. Will I be right? Find out on the next edition of Weekend Roundup!
