I don’t want to get my hopes up, especially after X-Men: The Last Stand, but I do have a lot of faith in what Bryan Singer can deliver when it comes to the franchise he built. So that pretty much makes Days of Future Past my most anticipated comic book movie of the year (Sorry Cap and Guardians but I’ve been waiting YEARS for another decent X-film!). In an interview with EW, Singer gives the lowdown on his involvement with the upcoming sequel X-Men: Apocalypse, his hand are in pretty much everything and I am sure that it is only a matter of time before he is hired to direct the film.

Apocalypse X Men

Singer on his involvement thus far…

“I’m co-writing the story and I’m producing it,” says the director. “I’m negotiating to direct. We’re in the process. We’re trying to figure it out, schedules. My desire would be to direct it.”

Will DOFP have an after-credits scene leading to Apocalypse…

“I’m still deciding that,” he says. “Something that happens in this movie causes what’s going to happen in that movie.”

What will Apocalypse be about…

“It will also address historical mutant-cy, meaning the deep past, mutant origins and things like that. It’s something that’s always intrigued me when we think about our Gods and our history and miracles and powers.”

X-Men-First-Class-Days-of-Future-Past

In other X-Men movie news we have a new mutant on board for Days of Future Past and that will be Toad. Toad has not been in an X-Men film since his introduction in the first X-Men film where he was played by Ray Park (The Phantom Menace). This time around we will be seeing a younger version of the character played by Evan Jonigkeit (Calendar Girl). I really wonder what other characters are going to show up that haven’t been announced?! Time will tell, maybe we will get a Fantastic Four cameo of some sort! Check the interview below with MTV!

“I read a lot of the comic books. I found out the storyline of my character, who is Toad. X-Men fans will know that Ray Park played him in the first movie, so it’s a generation story of how he came to be. It’s really cool.”

X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters on May 23, 2014, the anticipated film stars Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halley Berry, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, Fan Bingbing, Boo Boo Stewart, Adan Canto, Evan Peters, Josh Helman and Lucas Till. X-Men: Apocalypse is due out in 2016!
